چکیده
Abstract Objective This study aimed to clarify the association between both hypoxia-inducible factor-1α and glucose transporter type-1 expression survival outcome in advanced pharyngeal cancer without human papillomavirus infection. Method Twenty-five oropharyngeal 55 hypopharyngeal patients infection were enrolled. All had stage III–IV lesions underwent concurrent chemoradiotherapy or surgery. Hypoxia-inducible investigated primary by immunohistochemistry. Results There 41 39 cases with low high expression, 28 52 respectively. was no significant correlation expression. In univariate analysis, nodal metastasis, clinical but not predicted significantly worse prognosis. multivariate overexpression correlated poor overall survival, disease-specific recurrence-free survival. Conclusion High an independent risk factor for prognosis papillomavirus-unrelated cancer.

Hypoxia inducible factor 1α gene (HIF-1α) splice variants: potential prognostic biomarkers in breast cancer
BACKGROUND Hypoxia-inducible factor 1 (HIF-1) is a master transcriptional regulator of genes regulating oxygen homeostasis. The HIF-1 protein is composed of two HIF-1alpha and HIF-1beta/aryl hydrocarbon receptor nuclear translocator (ARNT) subunits. The prognostic relevance of HIF-1alpha protein overexpression has been shown in breast cancer. The impact of HIF-1alpha alternative splice variant ...
متن کاملExpression and clinical significance of hypoxia-inducible factor 1α, Snail and E-cadherin in human ovarian cancer cell lines
The aim of the present study was to investigate the expression and clinical significance of hypoxia-inducible factor 1α (HIF-1α), Snail and E-cadherin in ovarian cancer. The expression levels were assessed in a number of ovarian cancer cell lines and ovarian cancer tissues, and correlations between the expression of the three proteins and clinical pathological factors were analyzed. Transwell a...
متن کاملMiR199b Suppresses Expression of Hypoxia-Inducible Factor 1α (HIF-1α) in Prostate Cancer Cells
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of small noncoding RNAs that post-transcriptionally repress expression of target genes via imperfect base-pairing with the 3'-untranslated region (3'-UTR). The transcription factor hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) plays important roles in physiology and pathology. Constitutive over-expression of HIF-1α is observed in many types of cancers including prostate ca...
متن کاملExpression of hypoxia-inducible factor 1α in thyroid carcinomas
Hypoxia-inducible factor 1 alpha (HIF-1 alpha) is upregulated by hypoxia and oncogenic signalling in many solid tumours. Its regulation and function in thyroid carcinomas are unknown. We evaluated the regulation of HIF-1 alpha and target gene expression in primary thyroid carcinomas and thyroid carcinoma cell lines (BcPAP, WRO, FTC-133 and 8505c). HIF-1 alpha was not detectable in normal tissue...
متن کاملmiR-21 modulates paclitaxel sensitivity and hypoxia-inducible factor-1α expression in human ovarian cancer cells
Drug resistance is a major problem encountered in the treatment of ovarian cancer. Previous studies have demonstrated that in several types of cancer the overexpression of the multidrug resistance 1 (MDR1) gene is mainly associated with drug resistance. The present study aimed to investigate the role of miR-21 in the development of drug resistance in ovarian cancer cells. The expression levels ...
